Four Reasons Why It Is Important To Seal Your Tile Floor

You are probably wondering why some tiles last for a significantly longer time than others do even when
the tile quality is the same. With such a pronounced difference in longevity, the most common
explanation is often the installation process. When installed in a rush without adhering to all
recommendations, your tiles will not serve their purpose well. So, why seal tile floor? Read on for some
of the reasons why it is in your best interest to ensure that you do so.

 Sealed tile floors last longer – If you want value for your money regarding durability of tiles in
your home or office, you need to consider sealing your tiles. Applying the right sealant for your
tiles and grout will prevent them from a myriad of common problems including but not limited
to accelerated erosion through scratching and unwanted staining. Some tile sealants have been
known to significantly raise impact resistance of tiles making them last a whole lot longer than
unsealed tiles.

 Sealing grout in your floor leaves it looking better – Grout refers to the spaces in between any
two tiles on your floor. Irrespective of the experience of your flooring contractors, you can rest
assured that grout is unavoidable hence is one of the reasons why you need to seal tile floor. By
properly sealing grout on your tiled floor, you eliminate unsightly grooves leaving your floor
perfectly flat and smooth. Note that there are two steps to sealing grout and you need the right
materials to do so. This is why you need to contract a flooring installation expert with a proven
track record to help you out.

 Water resistance prevent the growth of molds under your tiles – If you leave your tiles
unsealed, water and other fluids will naturally seep through the grout or the tiles themselves (if
they are the porous kind). Over time, such spillages will compromise the integrity of your tiles
and end up accumulating below the surface of your tiles. Such accumulation of fluid is
accelerated if the installation of your tiles was done poorly. Since damp and dark surfaces
encourage the growth of molds, this is a health hazard you may have to deal with if you choose
not to seal your tiles against the recommendation of flooring contractors.

 It is easier to clean sealed tiles – we all want our houses looking clean and neat all the time.
That said, what better way to ensure this than through the application of sealant to your tiled
floors? This is because vacuum cleaners are more efficient on smooth floors than on rough ones,
and as stated earlier, sealing makes your floors a lot smoother. As a bonus, sealed tiles will save
you a lot in the way of cleaning detergents and bleaches you will need to use in cleaning
because they do not absorb as much as unsealed tile floors.
